A Republican group is launching an effort to elect Trump’s party’s presidential nominee in the Tennessee state Senate election, according to a report.
The Republican Party of Tennessee said the primary is scheduled for Tuesday and that the campaign will begin in the coming days, according a news release from the group.
Republican Party of Tennessee, which has been running a “Tennessee Reformed Candidate” campaign, is the first outside group to begin an effort in the race.
The group, which is based in Nashville, said it has raised $2.3 million so far and that it will spend $3.2 million in the next month to run for state Senate.
It said it hopes to have $20 million in its coffers by the time the election is held on Nov. 7.
